Why practice in nature?
Nature heals. Getting out in nature and immersing your practice among trees, fields, mountains, greenery, flowers, birds, and other wildlife instill calm. Coming to your breath, meditating, and adding movement (asanas) enhances the experience further...

Classes, Events, Retreats
I offer primarily vinyasa flow yoga classes where movements are fluid and connected to the breath, transitioning from pose to pose. Classes are offered outdoors in natural settings at parks or other outdoor venues among trees and green grass...

About Yoga In Nature
My journey of yoga in nature, taking my practice outdoors, began back when I resided in CT and has continued in NC. I found myself often combining outdoor adventures, my own yoga practice on the beach, in the woods, in parks, on tops of mountains… breathing the fresh air and connecting with nature. The openness and expansion that I felt in my body and mind left me wanting more! Nature became my studio, and I am inviting you to join me on your own journey.
The creation of Yoga in Nature™ has been years in the making, blending my experiences in practicing yoga for 25+ years with many yoga teachers in many different styles and studio settings with my own teacher training (RYT 200) and love for nature.
Outside of my yoga practice my professional career has been in working with organic and natural consumer packaged goods brands and Yoga Journal magazine, bringing health & wellness to yogis and more than 5,000 yoga studios nationwide (The Yoga Studio Network™).
I also have Masters degree in therapy and group dynamics, that helps me understand human nature, which gives me the ability to help others through their challenges with anxiety and depression.
These life paths have given me a natural link to the birth and cultivation of Yoga in Nature™ by solidifying what I know the human spirit needs… yoga practiced in nature… connecting breath (pranayama) and movement (asanas).Yoga heals. Nature heals. Yoga in Nature.
Love and light, Darlene

Student Reviews
See what some of my students think about practicing together in nature.
I found Darlene’s Yoga In Nature program in 2019 when I was recovering from breast cancer surgery and have been a regular ever since! I have an indoor practice but had never done yoga among trees before attending Yoga in Nature. Doing the asanas next to the trunk of a tree and under its branches, whether bare or leafy, is truly a different experience than practicing in a studio. Even before the pandemic, breathing air that is laden with the scents of grass, earth and flowers gave each session its own distinct value. Fresh air coupled with the awareness and intention that comes when practicing with, and under the guidance of, an experienced, sensitive, kind teacher like Darlene is simply transformative.

I've practiced yoga for several years and embraced the opportunity to learn from a few instructors. Each have their own presence and flow which have helped me along my own yoga journey. Darlene, in particular, has a strong accepting and nurturing vibe; consistently supporting and encouraging whether it's a day I'm ready for new challenges or a day I just need to actively rest and recover. Her choice of venues also creates a strong synergy between her natural style and the environment. This synergy has always brought a positive energy to me in my practice and has helped me grow in my yoga journey. I highly recommend her classes to anyone seeking to develop their yoga practice and connection to nature.

I started practicing with Darlene at the end of 2019. I’m grateful to have found Yoga in Nature when I did! Darlene has chosen beautiful spaces that are convenient to get to for practicing. She is encouraging about pushing yourself but also wants you to listen to your body. I have always felt supported and my practice has improved. Darlene has a beautiful energy and was a positive force throughout a crazy year! She has been dedicated in continuing her classes in a time when so many other things have stopped. Thanks to Darlene and Yoga in Nature I have been able to have at least one hour a week of serenity and peace. Namaste.

I have been going to Darlene's classes for approx. 2 years. I had been practicing yoga on my own on and off for several years previously but I found her classes so welcoming, I am now a regular attendee. Yoga is a great way for me to address my neck and back issues, often finding that I can stretch my knots out during practice. Darlene gives consistent guided instruction during class and I find it easy to close my eyes and sink into the flow. I highly recommend her to any one looking to start or re-engage their yoga practice.

I began practicing yoga over 4 years following a traumatic brain injury. I am truly a believer in the benefits of yoga-mind, body and spirit. I have gained strength and focus which I had started with very little ability for either. There is evidence that yoga boosts the immune system. I have not been sick since I have started yoga. Darlene's Yoga in Nature is like "the icing on the cake." The outdoor atmosphere brings an added benefit. Darlene is an excellent instructor as she believes in what she is doing and encourages you to do what you are comfortable with.I look forward to her group.

I cannot thank you enough for giving us the opportunity to attend yoga in the beautiful outdoors, especially since COVID started. You have offered us a time to breathe, exhale and focus on positive energy while focusing on self care. Yoga has helped me relax and focus on balancing, both on the mat and off the mat. It helps me calm my mind and try to focus on the positive. I would absolutely recommend Yoga in Nature to others- not only for the yoga, but for the kind words of support you offer, for the calm energy that you convey, and the community of people who gather together. Thank you, thank you, thank you. You are a fantastic teacher and so very appreciated.

Darlene is open and welcoming to all who join. Practicing Yoga looking at the blue sky, soaking in the sunshine, and breathing in Nature is so good for my mind and body. It's the best "reset" button. Thank you Darlene!

I feel so grateful to have the ability to exercise outdoors in a safe environment. So thank you for offering these classes for us!

Yoga in Nature has provided me a great outlet for reducing stress and focusing on the present... great to have a change of scenery to get outdoors during Covid restrictions!

Yoga in Nature has presented me with a wonderful community of like minded people. It has given me peace, tranquility, and allowed me to pursue an avenue of self care that I never tapped into. I would encourage anyone to take this class with Darlene who provides acceptance, guidance, and warmth.

I've been a regular attendee at Yoga in Nature for almost 2 years now. Darlene is such an inspiring teacher, her sessions are calming yet energizing, leaving me very relaxed. The sessions are grounded in nature, redefining yoga for me; given a choice, I'd rather be outdoors instead of indoors even during the winter season.

Yoga in Nature with Darlene gives a wonderful opportunity to practice outside in nature’s beauty. Darlene keeps class very safe with guidelines for spacing of mats, etc. She is a kind, knowledgeable yoga teacher who enjoys sharing yoga.
